Welcome to Hines On Air! In today’s episode, we are diving into a diverse array of topics including business, politics, current events, and more. We have a special guest, Danny Hadad, a 33-year-old entrepreneur with a wealth of experiences and insights.
Danny, thank you for joining us. At just 33, you’ve seen more than many will in a lifetime. Can you tell us a bit about your journey?
Sure, it’s my pleasure to be here. I came to the US from Palestine in 2010 to pursue my bachelor’s and master’s degrees. While studying, I noticed great opportunities in real estate and started my entrepreneurial journey. My first venture was in the cell phone business, where I began by selling and repairing phones. Our dealership became a top seller for MetroPCS, now owned by T-Mobile.
With the earnings from the cell phone business, I ventured into real estate. Initially, we bought properties at auctions without even seeing them, often facing unexpected challenges. My father, a financial expert, encouraged me to invest in real estate, emphasizing that it was a buyer’s market. We started small, purchasing properties for $25,000 to $50,000, and gradually scaled up.
In addition to real estate, I partnered with a close friend to expand into the car business. We established Gravity Autos, which now has multiple locations. Each partner manages their own store independently, ensuring efficiency and accountability. We sell around 120 cars per month per store, focusing on luxury vehicles.
Success in business is largely about having the right team. I prioritize investing in people, even though it can be costly and risky. I recruit talent from various places, including the Middle East and South America, and provide extensive training. My expectation is that out of every ten recruits, three will succeed, which I consider a worthwhile investment.
We continuously look for new opportunities. For instance, we ventured into the exotic car rental business in Atlanta, catering to high-end clients from New York, Chicago, and Miami. This business has thrived, capitalizing on Atlanta’s growing status as a major city.
One of our significant ventures was acquiring the inventory of Fry’s Electronics when they closed in 2021. We bought $33 million worth of inventory for a fraction of its value. The challenge was enormous, involving the logistics of clearing out 34 stores in just 27 days. Despite initial setbacks with platforms like eBay, we successfully liquidated the inventory, establishing a profitable relationship with the Egyptian Army.
I believe in taking calculated risks and seizing opportunities, often relying on the strength of a well-prepared team. Moving forward, we continue to explore new ventures and maintain our commitment to excellence in all our businesses.
Danny, your story is truly inspiring. Thank you for sharing your journey with us. We look forward to hearing more about your future endeavors.
Thank you for having me. It’s been a pleasure.
